Handmade in China

Location: Jingdezhen, China
Date: December 2018
Medium: 35mm Film
The following images are documentation of a month-long ceramic worshop I attended in what’s known as “The Porcelain Capital of The World,” Jingdezhen, China. My intent was to capture the candid beauty of Jingdezhen’s day-to-day life, and the people living and working in and around Jingdezhen. The community welcomed my classmates and I with open arms, sharing their food, their culture, and their instincts on craft with us.

Since my visit, major construction has wiped out many of these artisan workshops and studios, erasing hundreds of years of industry built and sustained by the working class there.
